Weekly Book Clubs
Weekly Virtual Meetings From June 9 - August 19
Crazy places: Ages 7-9
1 hr/week - Wednesdays
|
Join our virtual book club this summer as we explore wonderful places through reading and conversation. Each weekly session features engaging discussions, themed activities, special events, and a few fun surprises along the way.
We will journey to magical, enchanted islands in Impossible Creatures, step inside medieval castles with Max and the Midknights, and explore life by the sea with Odder and Tales of Emily Windsnap. Students are always welcome to share what they are reading and contribute to our discussions. As we read, students will naturally build vocabulary, strengthen sentence structure, and deepen their understanding of characters and plot. Beginning in Week 2, each session will also include a unique theme that brings the stories to life. |
It's a mystery: Ages 9-13
1.5 hr/week - Tuesdays
|
Join our virtual book club this summer for a weekly journey into intriguing mysteries. Each session features engaging discussions, themed activities, and just the right amount of suspense to keep everyone guessing. We will explore at least four carefully selected books, including The Westing Game and Chasing Vermeer, along with additional titles. Students are always welcome to share what they are reading and contribute to the conversation. As we read, students will strengthen their understanding of plot structure, expand their vocabulary, and explore complex characters and motivations. Most importantly, they will think, question, and discuss like true detectives. It is thoughtful, interactive, and a lot of fun—the kind of book club students look forward to each week.

Life is a journey Ages 11+
1.5 hr/week - Thursdays
Every great journey changes the traveler, and this summer, readers will grow right alongside the characters they encounter. Join us once a week for a virtual book club filled with discussions, themes, insights, activities, and even virtual parties! Together, we will read at least four powerful works, including The Outsiders, The Odyssey, and Ender’s Game, along with time set aside to share and discuss books students are enjoying independently.
Given the advanced reading level of this group, we will explore each text through a more mature lens, examining sentence structure, vocabulary, plot development, setting, and character complexity. Beginning in Week 2, each session will also feature a unique theme that brings the literature to life.
