This course is designed for both new and current enrollees. The course will continue to teach the Kerbal Space Program software which can be purchased and installed on the student’s personal computer and taken home. Students will be able to use the Kerbal software to model the “real” rockets they design and fly in the Cyprus Rocketry courses, or, they can model far more extreme rockets and plan missions to Space Stations, the Moon, or the planets of our solar system.
Kerbal is designed to teach real engineering fundamentals and resource management, but it “plays” like a game and is an exceptionally fun learning tool.
In the previous session students were introduced to computer simulations of rocket construction and mission planning. This session students will continue launching simulated vehicles into outer space, and extend the missions to other moons and planets and learn about orbit injection and gravity-assisted orbit planning. If you would like to see how a former NASA ‘game’ can be used to teach real astrophysics, stop by and sit in for a visit.
Wednesdays 3:00 - 4:00
April 2 - May 28
