In this course, the students will continue to be introduced to the physical world of “outer space”.
They will learn the basics of extra-atmospheric travel, and about the changes in environment from the surface of our Earth through the upper atmosphere, to the cold and vacuum of outer space. We will use the instruments we have developed to measure the external differences that an astronaut would face, including temperature changes, pressure changes, and exposure to intense solar radiation.
Using the Cyprüdyne Orion-X Space Capsule Simulator built in Session III, students will get to explore, design, and experience the sensations of “working in space”. In Session IV, we will build on this training by constructing a Pluto Excursion Simulator. The simulator will remove a portion of the student’s weight, and provide them with low-gravity conditions. Each student will get to “suit up” into a representative EVA (extra-vehicular activity) suit with space helmet and harness, and practice executing tasks and a mission in near-zero gravity.
Students will learn about the short-term and long-term effects of low gravity on human physiology, and learn more about how the human body works as a system itself.
Stop by and have a close look at our Capsule Simulator and see if you have what it takes to become an astronaut**!!!!.
Mondays 3:00 - 4:00
April 7 - June 9
